With the ongoing Energiewende in Germany and the further integration of decentralised energy generation plants based on renewable energies, the connection of large offshore wind farms, the expansion of electromobility and the growing number of power-electronic consumers, the stationary and dynamic system behaviour of the electrical energy system is changing increasingly. The Electric Power Engineering Section is dedicated to answering questions arising from these developments and to developing mathematical tools for their analysis.

The Electric Power Engineering Section has scientific competencies in the areas of grid and equipment modelling and the simulation of stationary, dynamic and transient processes in electrical energy systems, the planning and management of electrical networks of all voltage levels , sector-coupling (power-heat-gas), multi-objective optimization of coupled systems, frequency control and network control interconnection, stability analysis, harmonic analysis and analysis of harmonic stability as well as ancillary services provision and optimization across voltage levels.
