Abstract

In this contribution, the relative permittivity εr is investigated as a function of frequency of silicone doped with different amount of microscopic graphite filler for applications in cable systems. This dependency can be determined by capacity measurements using the geometry of the samples. This is of interest because the introduction of fillers with different characteristics of the medium to be filled into the insulation material creates countless microscopic interfaces. In addition, the change in the dissipation factor tan δ should also be observed in parallel, since this is significantly influenced by the introduction of conductive particles or deliberate contamination. In order to be able to observe the influence of the temperature, all tests are repeated at different temperatures typical for the operation of cables. The result shows that the dissipation factor in the kHz range increases with the amount of graphite, but decreases at lower frequencies.
