Renewable Energies and Smart Concepts for Electric Power Systems

Course overview No.: 35614

German title: Erneuerbare Energien und intelligente Energieversorgungskonzepte

Prof. Lutz Hofmann and other lecturers from industry present interesting topics on renewable energies and further equipment and concepts for electric power engineering. Lecture is held on Tuesdays from 11:45 am to 01:15 pm.

The anticyclical exam in winter semester is an oral exam. If you are interested in taking an anticyclical exam, please contact pruefungen-eev@ifes.uni-hannover.de by 31 December to registrate. Participation in the exam is not possible without registration at the institute.

Description

Students learn about sustainable and regenerative energy supply systems and concepts as well as development trends in electric power engineering. Furthermore, the operating behaviour of the novel equipment, their interaction and integration into the existing grid is presented. The decentralized structures and possibilities of controlling decentralized generation (energy management) are discussed. The individual lectures deal with the topics:

  • wind energy
  • offshore networks
  • integration of renewable energies
  • FACTS
  • Energy storage systems
  • Superconducting equipment
  • Congeneration units (combined heat and power)
  • Smart grids
  • E-mobility and charging infrastructure
